Before we all join in the festivities with family and friends, I just want to wish you the best for these holidays. Take this time to remember the reason for the season, to embrace real life and all of the amazing people in it. Enjoy this special time of year and the meaning behind it and don’t forget to stop and smell the pies. And to taste the deliciousness, too, of course. Life is short. We only get a certain number of Christmases. Enjoy every single one of them. I’m off to do just this. But first, I wish you … Continue reading

I know I haven’t been much of a blogger recently. Besides participating in a special Fall promotion for New Adult authors and sharing some cover reveals for author-friends, pretty much everything else has been promotions and updates about Wrath, and before that, The Space Between. Lame, I know. *hangs head in shame* For the record, however, Wrath kicked my arse. Literally. I still have the bruise. Okay, okay, not literally. But it sure felt like it! Still does. I am so incredibly, undeniably thankful for my own immediate family – The Man and The Boys. They are the best … Continue reading

As usual, the holidays and all their sublime, make-my-knees-melt, high-fat and high-calorie treats brought some unwanted visitors – extra pounds. I’m calling them visitors, though, because they will not become permanent residents. I will not allow it. They, as well as their relatives who have been visiting since October when I quit all nicotine sources (no cigs, no gum, no lozenges, no anything) and all the others that have been adding to my middle while I write, are being kicked out one by one. This writer’s bum has got to go. Unfortunately, writing doesn’t burn any calories. (Wow – could … Continue reading

Christmas is the time for traditions and this includes traditions in the kitchen. Anyone who cooks (and even many who don’t) have at least one recipe they make every year that has been handed down the generations. Whether it’s for a pie, cookie, salad or entree, it’s a family favorite and it just doesn’t feel like Christmas without it. My family honors its Portuguese heritage with a soup recipe that I make every year around this time. Kale is one of the primary ingredients and it begins showing up in the stores around Thanksgiving. My version of the soup is … Continue reading
