More authors have asked me about going indie in the last two months than in all previous months combined. Does it have to do with Amanda Hocking’s success? Or perhaps John Locke’s? Actually, I think it’s because writers are finally realizing that they have a choice. And regardless of what you’re doing, it’s always smart to at least check out all your options. Educate yourself on everything available and make an informed decision that best works for you. So I’ll share what I can, starting with my “predictions” and one of the reasons I chose this path to publication. My … Continue reading

After a few days of no writing or revising – not even a peek into a file – today was the day to start revising Book 3. I’ve been excited to get back to Alexis and Tristan’s world after six weeks in the world of the novella and I made allowed myself a break over the weekend, upping the can’t-wait-to-get-started factor. I expected to bound out of bed this morning, too excited to sleep and ready to get to work. Except I couldn’t. I awoke and just lay there, wondering what on earth I was supposed to do. Finally! The novella is done! It took a lot longer to finish this novella than expected. I mean, it’s barely 60,000 words. It took me longer to write it than it did to write the 124,000 +/- words of the first draft of Promise & Purpose. But it’s done. (Did you feel that breeze Wednesday afternoon? That was me letting out a major sigh of relief.) And hopefully it won’t need nearly as much work as Promise and Purpose did. Because, of course, it’s the best thing I’ve ever written. I’m allowed to think that for now. I get a … Continue reading

Me, working on deadline. …and if I don’t make deadline… Me next week, after making deadline, because I totally refuse to miss it! In case it’s not obvious, I’m working on a deadline this week. If I don’t get my first draft in by the end of this coming weekend, I have some very nasty ramifications. Seriously nasty. Since I really don’t want to face them – and don’t have the time to do them – I’ll be totally focused on writing this week…and not on blog writing. So play among yourselves. Have fun. Stay out of trouble. And get … Continue reading

I think I might have switched teams. The other side really seems to be working out better for me now. But I feel so guilty. I see my old team staring at me with mouths open, unable to believe that I would betray them so blatantly. “Don’t leave us! This is the fun side where all the exciting stuff happens! You’ll hate it over there – it’s so rigid and conforming. You’ll miss our chaos, our uncertainty and our passion! You said you’d never leave us again!” Yes, indeed, I did say that. I said I’d never be a … Continue reading
