This week, in preparation for Thanksgiving tomorrow, I’ve been sharing something each day that I’m thankful for. Today, I want to give thanks for my gift as a writer. It’s difficult for me to say “talent” or even “ability,” because those seem to require quantifying, which I can’t do. But I can say that I’ve been given a gift. As I mentioned last week, this week is absolutely crazy. But all good crazy. I’m sitting in a hotel room in Orlando, here until Friday morning for day-job stuff. Then I move to another hotel on the other side of Orlando for the Florida Writers Association conference and Royal Palm Literary Awards banquet this weekend. Promise is a finalist for an award. I try not to think about it too much, because when I do, my stomach gets that feeling like when you’re going over that first hill of a roller coaster.
